Our Mission
The Birmingham Service League is a dedicated volunteer-led non-profit organization committed to compassionately serving individuals in the Birmingham community through needs-based philanthropic programs. We believe when essential needs are met, families and individuals can flourish – ultimately uplifting, positively changing and strengthening our communities.
About Us
Birmingham Service League is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving children in need within our community to achieve a more positive and meaningful way of life. Today, we are proud to have 80+ volunteers dedicating over 10,000 volunteer service hours to our community each year!
Clothes for Class and Clothes for Class Shoppers are the signature philanthropic programs administered by Birmingham Service League. In 2024-25, we served 50 elementary schools and 1,800 children in the metropolitan area. Additionally, we served 18 middle schools and 450 students. Each year, school counselors refer children in need, and members of the Birmingham Service League ensure they receive appropriate school attire, warm hoodies, undergarments, a hygiene kit, and a book of their choice.
In 2010, we opened Encore Thrift Shop, an upscale thrift store that sells gently used clothing, furniture and decor at very reasonable prices. The shop has brought in additional monies to help support the philanthropic programs and mission of the Birmingham Service League.
