Clothes for Class (CC)

Birmingham Service League purchases new clothing, hygiene kits and books for local children. Elementary students, grades K-5, are brought to our headquarters in Homewood to receive their new wardrobe. During the children’s visit to Clothes for Class (CC), they try on their new attire with the help of BSL members and select a free book from the Kids’ Book Nook.

Clothes for Class Shoppers (Middle School students, grades 6-8), visit local clothing stores and with the help of a personal shopper select new clothing, including socks and underwear. We’re not only meeting immediate needs but also encouraging students and their families to develop smart budgeting habits during their shopping experience.

The children are referred to us by area school counselors based on need. When they leave that particular need has been met. It warms our hearts to see their smiles as big as their bags when they leave!
